May 16, 2008 PASCAGOULA, Mississippi (AP) - Former Romanian President Emil Constantinescu is helping rebuild houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Constantinescu was Romanian president between 1996-2000, riding a wave of reformist enthusiasm into office after the fall of communism in 1989. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds houses for people around the world through volunteer labor and contributions from the future homeowners. Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn, who have been involved with the organization since 1984, hold an annual home-building event in various locations. This year's «Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project» was dedicated to helping rebuild homes damaged by the 2005 hurricane.
