Do you know someone looking for a job?
Do you know a recent high school or college graduate or a college student taking a break from school?
Habitat for Humanity of the MS Gulf Coast is looking for 17 Construction AmeriCorps Members, 1 VISTA member for the Veterans Program & 1 VISTA member for Volunteer Services.
Each member will volunteer for 1,700 hrs during a 10 and a half month program from September 1, 2012 to July 31, 2013.
AmeriCorps and Vista positions are a great opportunity for people of all ages to give back to the community in the form of public service.
AmeriCorps & VISTA members learn new skills, acquire qualities of leadership, and gain a sense of satisfaction from taking on responsibilities that directly affect peoples' lives. For those planning on attending college or out of college, it is a way to give back while earning an education award that can be used towards tuition or towards student loans.
As an AmeriCorps & VISTA member, you will gain valuable experience that translates directly into job experience in your chosen field. You will learn teamwork, communication, responsibility, and other essential skills that will help you for the rest of your life. Many find their AmeriCorps & VISTA year to provide them with more experience and skills than they would have gotten in a traditional, paying job.
Habitat for Humanity* AmeriCorps Member’s Benefits:
• Living allowance of $12,100 for the 2012-2013 Program Year
• Upon completion of hours and service term, an Education Award will be granted in the amount of $5,550
• Health insurance offered/worker’s compensation
• Loan forbearance for most student loans
• Childcare assistance for qualified members
• Learning different skills including hard trades and life lessons
• Making a difference in someone’s life
• 10 leave and 10 sick days, in addition to any affiliate holidays
Application deadline – June 8, 2012
