HFHMGC Celebrates Opening of Long Beach Subdivision

On Saturday, August 29, Habitat for Humanity of the MS Gulf Coast, along with Governor Haley Barbour and First Lady Marsha Barbour celebrated the progress made along the MS Gulf Coast since Hurricane Katrina made landfall in 2005. The event highlighted the completion of HFHMGC’s first large-scale development, The Trace, a twenty-eight house subdivision in Long Beach, MS.

When Hurricane Katrina ripped through south MS in August, 2005, many of the decent, affordable housing options were destroyed or severely damaged. The housing need along the Coast became an immediate issue.
Since 2007, HFHMGC has more than 300 homes completed and several more currently under construction. HFHMGC is working diligently to alleviate the demand for affordable housing.

Your organization functioned very well during my week of working (July 15-20th). The organized manner in which you fed and housed us impressed me.
