Birdies for Charity

Charity begins on the golf course at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. Individuals have the opportunity to make Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast a big winner by participating in the Birdies for Charity program. Donate to HFHMGC through the Birdies for Charity program and HFHMGC will receive every single penny of the donations generated! Additionally, participants will have a chance to win great prizes!

What is Birdies for Charity?
Birdies for Charity is a campaign designed to support charitable organizations through involvement with the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. The program encourages people to make pledges based on the number of birdies that will be scored during the tournament and 100% of their pledge will be donated to the charity.

What is a birdie?
In golf, a "birdie" is a score of one stroke better than the "par" for any golf hole on the course. "Par" is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole.

How can I donate?
Easy! Simply make a donation of 2 cents (or more) per birdie OR make a minimum flat donation of $10. You can donate by clicking here.  Or else, print and mail <this document>.

What is the average birdie total?
The birdie total is based on the number of birdies scored during the profession tournament from Friday to Sunday. Champions Tour professionals are anticipated to score an average of 700 birdies during the tournament. That number could change due to weather.

If approximately 700 birdies are made during the tournament, pledges would total: 

•  2 cents per birdie = $14 
•  3 cents per birdie = $21 
•  4 cents per birdie = $28 
•  5 cents per birdie = $35 
•  10 cents per birdie = $70 
•  15 cents per birdie = $105

Did you say prizes?
Yes! Once you make your pledge, you will have a chance to win several prizes, including the Grand Prize - a 2 night stay and dinner at thehard Rock Hotel & Casino!
Weekly drawings will be held during the month of March. Donors must “Guess the Birdies” in order to be eligible for the Grand Prize.

What if I want to pay by check?
You can do that! Just click <here> for the paper pledge cards that you can print right now! Please contact tellmemore@hfhmgc.org and include your name and mailing address if you prefer us to mail you a  paper pledge card.

Why don’t I just send a check to Habitat for Humanity of the MS Gulf Coast?
The top three charities with the most money raised through Birdies for Charity will also receive Bonus Bucks, up to $7,500.

If I pay by credit card, when will I be billed?
Credit Cards will be charged April 4, 2010 once the tournament has been completed and the number of birdies can be totaled.

Is the donation tax deductible?
Yes! You will receive a receipt for your donation via email or mail that can be used for tax purposes.
